Children First Learning Center is a ministry of First United Methodist Church in downtown Gulfport. At the Learning Center, all families are welcomed and valued. We strive to provide a program that is inclusive, culturally diverse, and designed to meet the needs of our community. We want every child to experience and share the love of God and to take that love with them into the world.
Beginning August 2018, we will provide childcare in a full-time, year-round program for children from 6 weeks to 2 years, with the goal of building a full pre-k program within the next three years. We support the essential nurturing provided by parents. Our emphasis is offering experiences closely related to those your child has at home. We build on the uniqueness of each individual child. We provide a safe and stimulating environment to further strengthen your child’s quest for independence and self-confidence.
Greg Stanford has over twenty years of experience working with young children, with the bulk of these as a classroom teacher. He completed his Master of Education Degree at William Carey College in May of 2004. “Early education is incredibly important,” he says, “it’s the foundation for everything a child will accomplish.”
Greg has worked extensively with the special needs population and says this has impressed on him the need for tailoring education to the needs of the individual. "Children, particularly young children, don't all learn the same way or at the same rate," he says, "we have to meet them where they are."
Greg lives in Gulfport with this wife and son, where is son attends the same schools Greg did as a boy.
