    These knockout Nashville musicians began their acclaimed musical partnership in 2015, based on a mutual love of bluegrass, 60’s and 70’s classic country, western swing, blues and string music of all kinds.  The collaboration of legendary dobro player Rob Ickes (who also plays superlative lap steel guitar) and blazing acoustic/electric guitarist and vocalist Trey Hensley has continued to delight and astound audiences of traditional American music around the globe.  Their first album, Before the Sun Goes Down, was nominated for a Grammy in 2016.  Rob has been named Dobro Player of the Year by the IBMA an unprecedented 15 times. Their sets are a heady mix of the familiar and beloved and the new and unexpected.  
  • USM Southern Chorale

    The Southern Chorale, renowned as the premiere touring vocal ensemble of the University of Southern Mississippi, has a long history of excellence, performing the complete spectrum of significant choral literature for a cappellaand accompanied chorus.  Membership consists primarily of upper-division voice majors and graduate students in vocal performance, conducting, and music education.  The 58-member Chorale has an active schedule, touring nationally and internationally.  Dr. Gregory Fuller, the Southern Chorale’s director and conductor, is in his 20thyear as Director of Choral Activities at the University of Southern Mississippi.  The concert will include performances of jazz and pop selections by the group’s popular small ensembles.

    Since the group formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny has steadily evolved from a loose collection of street musicians into a solid ensemble dedicated to bringing the traditional New Orleans sound to audiences around the world. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences - from spirituals to Depression-era blues, from ragtime to traditional jazz - their sound evokes the rich musical heritage of their New Orleans home.  The band has gained a loyal following through their distinctive sound, their commitment to reviving long-lost songs, and their barnstorming live performances. They have released seven albums and have played concerts and gigs at jazz festivals worldwide.

    Open The Door For Three is a road-tested, high octane trio of Irish musicians who mine song books, collections, and recordings for Celtic tunes and songs both old and new.  Adding to their discoveries are fiddler Liz Knowles’ arrangements and compositions, piper Kieran O’Hare’s immense knowledge of Irish tunes and the uilleann piping tradition, and the bedrock bouzouki and world-class singing of Dublin-born Pat Broaders.  Band members are veterans and mainstays of the Irish music scene around the world and have played with Riverdance, Cherish the Ladies, the String Sisters, Martin Hayes Quartet, The New York Pops, Bonnie Raitt, Josh Groban and at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

    Nashville’s Kate Lee & Forrest O’Connor have earned critical acclaim as lead singers and songwriters with the O’Connor Band, an Americana group they co-founded along with O’Connor’s father, violinist Mark O’Connor. The duo wrote the majority of that band’s first album, ComingHome, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums Chart and won a Grammy award in 2017. Forrest is a former Tennessee State Mandolin Champion and a formidable guitarist.  Kate is an in-demand violinist and fiddler who backs up stars from John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.  Also on the stage will be Isaac Eicher on mandolin, Geoff Saunders on bass, and vocalist Mallory Eagle.

Arts Under the Dome concerts are held in the beautiful sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, downtown Gulfport, MS at 2301 15th Street (corner of 24th Avenue), across from Gulfport City Hall. Tickets are always available at the door – you never need to call to see if tickets are still available; just get there by 6:30 PM to get a good seat!
