Who We Are & What We Believe

First United Methodist Church of Gulfport is a historic, downtown church in the city of Gulfport (right across from City Hall). We welcome everyone and strive to remain true to the United Methodist motto, Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors. We believe every human being is a beloved child of God, on a journey to God, with God. We admit that we do not have all the answers, but we believe that Jesus Christ points the way.

We are a church that is invested in our community. We believe that when we are engaging those around us (our neighbors), we are engaging Christ.

We seek meaningful relationships with one another through worship, small groups, fellowship, outreach and mutual support of each other. We believe that "people will know that we are disciples of Jesus Christ by our love for one another." (John 13:35)

Our church family is intergenerational. Our theology is rooted in the gospel. By the power of God, through grace of Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Spirit we seek to "love God and neighbor."

Come join us!
